It’s that time again! Please join us in congratulating our CareerStaff Unlimited Clinicians of the Month for November 2020: Dawn, an LPN working with CareerStaff Unlimited Kentucky; Rosa, a CNA operating out of CareerStaff’s Orlando office and Saconda, a registered respiratory therapist who works with the CareerStaff Travel Therapy team.
We’re so proud of these amazing professionals, as well as everyone else in our nationwide network. And as always, we offer a huge THANK YOU to all the nurses, therapists, pharmacists and other essential clinical professionals working so hard to provide care during this difficult time. You are appreciated!
Meet Dawn
A member of the CareerStaff network for just a few months, Dawn told us that her favorite part of working with us is that the leaders “truly care about their employees.”
A highly seasoned and sought-after nurse, Dawn entered the nursing field back in 1994, becoming a licensed practical nurse in 2003. Before that, she was enlisted in the United States Navy — and that’s when she first realized she was destined for a career in nursing.
In the years since, she’s noticed that the healthcare industry has seen an increase in documentation, “going from paper to electronic systems,” and that information is “more portable.” Her takeaway is that healthcare professionals should be more accepting of change, even though it’s often difficult to do so.
That also means that the larger job “takes teamwork, and there is no ‘i’ in team,” she told us. “If you want successful units, you have to pull together as one!”
4 Quick Questions!
What’s the best part of your day? “Going down the hall and seeing the smiles of residents.”
What’s the hardest part of your job? “Meeting ALL demands and expectations of 40-residents-to-1 nurse ratio, but I make it happen!”
What do you find most inspiring about your job? “I get to know the families/residents and get to hear their life stories.”
What’s your favorite memory as a nurse? “Singing songs with residents and their families.”
Meet Rosa
She may be a relatively new member of the CareerStaff family, but Rosa has worked as a clinician for almost 20 years — and has accumulated not only experience but more and more love for the job each of those years, she told us.
“I like working with people who truly need my help,” she said. “I’m a compassionate person and love working with patients, getting them to a point where they can be on their achieving daily activities they were not able to do before.”
That dedication to helping others shines through in everything Rosa does, and says. She told us that her favorite memories of working as a nurse were “seeing all the smiles and gratitude of my residents, being able to uplift residents when they’re sad because they’re lonely and don’t have family.”
Family is a big motivator for Rosa, too. She takes personal satisfaction in “working with patients and their families, helping them through what is often a difficult time for them,” she said.
“It is extremely satisfying for me to hear a family member say, ‘I can relax when you are working with my mom, because I know you take good care of her.’ To hear that feels very good and makes me proud because that means I’m doing my job well.”
We couldn’t agree more. Thank you, Rosa!
4 Quick Questions!
What’s the best part of your day? “To see a smile in my residents faces and gratitude.”
What’s the hardest part of your job? “To see residents get sick and pass away.”
What’s your favorite memory about working with CareerStaff? “When I needed help with some paperwork and my recruiter Lucy went out of her way to help me do it.”
Is there anything you’ve learned over the course of your career that you think others might benefit to know? “It’s really important for me that I’m passionate about what you do. At the end of the day, it’s not just a job, it’s a commitment to helping others. It can be demanding and challenging, but also rewarding, so you need to really love what you do.”

Meet Saconda
Like all of November 2020’s Clinicians of the Month, Saconda is a healthcare industry veteran, having worked as a registered respiratory therapist for more than 21 years! She’s also been a welcome member of the CareerStaff team since August, helping to deliver essential respiratory therapy during a time when it’s never been needed more urgently.
“It’s inspiring to me knowing that I have helped to add another day to someone’s life,” she said. “My favorite memory is every time my patients thank me for saving their lives.”
She told us about when she first realized she was destined for a career in healthcare: “I have been asthmatic since the age of two, and coded as a kid at age seven from a terrible asthma attack,” she said. “Respiratory from that day was my destiny.”
In the years since, Saconda has noticed a few changes. “I feel that healthcare over the past 10 years has lost a lot of compassion,” she said. “Clinicians forget to actually check their patients, without all the monitors and electronics. I believe that we should all actually look and touch your patients and make sure that they are okay, and not rely only on electronics.”
And finally, what does Saconda think of her CareerStaff experience? “My favorite memory about working at CSU is the feeling that my recruiter, Maria, has been almost like family to me since day one,” she told us — and the feeling is mutual, Saconda!
