At CareerStaff Unlimited, we take pride in the quality of our team. And that includes not just our thousands of highly skilled nurses, therapists, pharmacists, technicians and other healthcare professionals, but also the leadership team who guides our strategy and helps make sure we’re offering our clients only the very best.
As part of our Employee Spotlight series, this month we’re shining a spotlight on CareerStaff Vice President of Travel David LeCours, who oversees a number of our most vital divisions, including travel nursing, interim leadership, corrections and crisis staffing.
An accomplished leader who’s been immersed in the staffing and recruitment industry for more than 20 years, David has spent the bulk of his career with CareerStaff Unlimited, first joining our team as a branch manager in the early months of 2002.
David’s career in staffing and recruitment goes back a few years before that. He joined the industry in 1997, in industrial staffing, “and had quite a bit of fun,” he told us.
“From there, I went on to lead teams that focused on Telcom, tech and sales roles.” It wasn’t long before he was invited to join an early incarnation of the CareerStaff family: “The rest is history!”
During his almost-20 years with CareerStaff, David has become active in healthcare thought leadership, contributing articles to publications like McKnight’s Long-Term Care News. He is also Development and Mission Committee Member at Johnson Memorial Hospital/Trinity Health of New England. Since 2015, David has served as an Advisory Board Member of the National Council of Post-Acute Care Practitioners (NCPACP), a group supporting policies to “promote quality care, enhance the patient’s experience, and decrease the cost” of post-acute care.
A native of Somers, Connecticut, David counts traveling, investing, cooking, shooting and adventuring with family among his favorite hobbies. Professionally, he takes great pride in his demonstrated leadership skills, his ability to connect with people and his continuous focus on integrity. On a day-to-day basis, he also finds inspiration in playing a role in keeping the patient care continuum functioning — even during times of crisis.
“We are indirectly responsible for the care provided, in hundreds of locations throughout the United States,” he told us. “Through this recent pandemic, multiple clients have reached out and shared that without our professionals’ support, undoubtedly more lives would have been lost. Many of our recruiters were also referred to as heroes. It really makes you stop and think.”
